Outline of Conference
The effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining is among the ILO’s fundamental principles and rights at work. However, there are circumstances where workers in non-standard employment do not effectively enjoy such right due to legal impediments and the dominant system of collective bargaining. In Korea, for example, workers of triangular employment relationship or own-account workers have not fully enjoyed the right to collective bargaining and strike vis-à-vis the principal company or user-employer.
This conference explores how to facilitate meaningful collective bargaining with real employers, and promote the collective labour rights for all workers regardless of their employment status.
Speakers
Karen Curtis (Chief, Freedom of Association Branch, ILO)
Jeffrey Vogt (Representative of Workers, Committee on Freedom of Association, ILO)
Aelim Yun (Director, Institute of Workers’ Rights, Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Legal Centre)
This conference is co-organized by the Korean Solidarity for the Amendment to the Trade Union & Labor Relation Adjustment Act.
